Quick answer
Don’t worry — most “missing” completions appear on your driver record within an hour of finishing the course. If it’s been longer than that, our support team and DOL have a backup process to find your record and update it manually.
Start with the three quick checks below. If they don’t resolve it, contact the LMS support team — we’ll route you to the right place.

Three quick checks before you contact anyone
These three checks resolve the large majority of missing-completion reports. Run through them in order:
1. Confirm your course actually shows as completed in the LMS
Sign in to the course and go to My Courses. You should see:
- A green Completed badge on the Work Zone and First Responder course.
- The date and time you finished the knowledge check.
If you see In Progress or Failed Knowledge Check instead, your completion hasn’t been recorded yet — see the table below for what to do.
2. Wait at least 60 minutes
Most completions reach DOL within a few minutes, but a small number are queued behind routine system updates. The platform is designed to retry automatically until your record is updated.
Wednesday maintenance window
DOL runs routine system maintenance every Wednesday at 8:30 PM Pacific Time, for up to 30 minutes. If you finished the course during this window, your completion will be queued and may take up to an hour to appear on your record. This is normal — no action is needed.
3. Refresh your driver record at DOL
Sometimes the completion is already on your record, but the page you’re viewing is showing a cached older version. Sign out of your DOL driver portal, then sign back in and check again. If you’re looking at a printed page or document, it may have been generated before your completion was applied.

Common reasons completions don’t appear
If it’s been more than an hour and your completion is still missing, the table below covers the patterns we see most often. Use the description in the left column to find your situation.
| What it looks like | What likely happened |
|---|---|
| My Courses still shows In Progress | You haven’t finished every module yet. Open the course and look for the lesson that doesn’t have a green checkmark. |
| My Courses shows Failed Knowledge Check | You didn’t pass the final knowledge check. You can retake it — there’s no penalty, and lessons you’ve mastered won’t be repeated. |
| My Courses shows Completed, but DOL record is empty | Your completion is on our side and is waiting to be applied to your licensing record. This usually clears within an hour. |
| Both My Courses and DOL show nothing for the course | Your sign-in or identity verification may not have been matched to your driver record. The course can’t report a completion if it doesn’t know which driver to update. |
| You took the course on a Wednesday evening | DOL runs routine system maintenance every Wednesday at 8:30 PM Pacific Time, for up to 30 minutes. Completions during that window are queued and may take up to an hour to appear. |
Behind the scenes
When you pass the knowledge check, the course platform automatically sends an “Update Course” message to DOL’s DRIVES system to record your completion. A daily reconciliation report flags any cases where the LMS and DRIVES records don’t match, so missing completions are also detected and fixed proactively by DOL.
Contact support
If the quick checks didn’t resolve it, contact our team first. We can see whether your completion was recorded on the platform side and whether it has been sent to DOL. Most cases are resolved at this step.
- Sign in to the course (if you can) and take a screenshot of your My Courses page.
- Note the date and time you finished the knowledge check.
- Contact support and submit a request. Include your screenshot and the time you completed the course.
Support is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
What we’ll check
- Whether the course is marked Completed.
- Whether the completion was successfully sent to the DRIVES system.
- Whether your identity verification matched a single driver record cleanly.
- If everything looks correct on our side, we’ll escalate the ticket to DOL ISD on your behalf.
Escalating to DOL
If Support confirms the completion was recorded but it hasn’t reached your driver record, the next step is a manual lookup with DOL’s Information Services Division (ISD). DOL maintains a manual correction process specifically for cases like this — it’s a backup that exists for exactly this reason.
When to call DOL directly
Call DOL directly only after working with LMS support, unless:
- It’s an urgent licensing deadline (for example, you have a driver license appointment in the next few business days).
- You’ve already been told by Support to contact DOL.
How to reach DOL
- Call the Driver Licensing Customer Service at (360) 902-3900 during business hours.
- Let them know you completed the Work Zone and First Responder course but it isn’t showing on your driver record.
- Have ready: your physical driver license, the date and time you finished the course, and the LMS support ticket number if you have one.
- DOL will perform a manual lookup, confirm whether the completion is in their system, and update your record if needed.
Don’t worry about your licensing timeline
DOL’s manual lookup process is designed so a missing completion does not delay your licensing. As long as the completion is verified, DOL can apply it to your record while you’re on the phone.
How to prevent this next time
A few small things you can do to make sure your completion is captured cleanly:
- Finish the course on a stable internet connection (5 Mbps or faster) so the completion message reaches DOL on the first try.
- Stay on the completion screen for at least 30 seconds before closing the browser. The platform uses that time to confirm the message was sent.
- Take a screenshot of your completion screen when you finish. It makes any follow-up much faster.
- Try to finish the course outside the Wednesday 8:30 PM Pacific Time maintenance window if you’re close to a licensing deadline.
