Quick answer
Don’t worry — there’s no penalty for not passing a knowledge check the first time. You can retake it as many times as you need.
The platform also remembers which topics you’ve already mastered, so you won’t have to redo lessons you already know.

What happens right after a failed attempt
If you don’t pass on a given attempt, the course will:
- Show you a clear results screen with your score and the passing threshold.
- Highlight the topics where you missed questions, without showing the exact answers.
- Suggest the specific lessons to review before you try again.
- Give you a Retake knowledge check button to start a new attempt when you’re ready.

How to retake the knowledge check
When you’re ready, the retake is straightforward:
- From the results screen, click Review suggested lessons to revisit the topics you missed. Or skip ahead if you feel ready.
- When you’re ready, click Retake knowledge check.
- The new attempt starts in Secure Browser Mode, just like the first one.
- Pass the knowledge check, and your completion is automatically sent to DOL.
About the questions on your retake
Each knowledge check pulls from a larger question bank — so the questions on your retake won’t be identical to the ones on the previous attempt. The topics will be the same, but the specific questions may be different. That way you’re demonstrating real understanding, not memorizing answers.
Tips for passing on your next try
Most learners pass after one quick review of the topics they missed. A few things that help:
- Watch — or rewatch — the lessons the results screen flags. The relevant section is usually short.
- Take a quick break before retaking, especially if your last attempt felt rushed. Even ten minutes helps.
- Make sure you’re on a stable internet connection and not at risk of being interrupted. The knowledge check works best in one sitting.
- Find a quiet spot. The course covers important safety topics, and concentration matters.
- Trust what you learned — most missed questions come from second-guessing, not from gaps in the material.
If you keep getting stuck
If you’ve taken the knowledge check a few times and a particular topic still feels confusing:
- Try reviewing the lessons on a different device or with the captions on — sometimes a different presentation helps.
- Take a longer break and come back the next day with a fresh perspective.
- If something in the course feels unclear or you suspect a question is wrong, contact our support team. We pass feedback to the content team and can help if a specific question is the issue.
There’s no “three strikes” limit
There’s no maximum number of attempts. The platform will keep letting you retake until you pass. You don’t need to contact anyone simply because it’s taken more than a few tries.
